Some Personal Advice To All Business Owners (Part 1)

In the world of business, very few things ever change (with technology being the exception) Regardless of whether you're in MLM/NWM, some things will remain the same: 1. SPAM These guys are not just online. I get junk mail in print as well. They're also not exclusive to the world of textual promotion - they phone us every day, or approach you on the sidewalks, offering all kinds of junk you don't need. They're here to stay. No need to get angry. Get used to it. As long as you can learn the lesson (that SPAM doesn't work) and move on. 2. SPAM aside, there's a lot of junk out there... My involvement in MLM/NWM has taught me that there are boatloads of personal development materials out there (Books, Cd's, DVD's etc...) Over 90% of it all is crap, and within the remaining 10% some won't be suitable for your personality type. And more than what is necessary will be in the "motivational" category. I'm not against motivational speeches, but if you over-consume "motivation" you will soon realize that motivation doesn't sell... instead, it turns many prospects off. You'll have to strike the balance for yourself in terms of how much motivation you need. You'll also have to spend some money and weed through all the BS to get the stuff that will properly train and equip you for the world of sales. For me, I bought tons of crap, and more motivational stuff than is necessary for me. I consider myself a realist and needed appropriate training with minimal motivation (although I wouldn't rule out motivation entirely) For me, "Professional Inviter" by Tim Sales (over at First Class MLM Tools - and I don't get commission from this...) was the correct training. It fitted my personality and struck the correct balance between training and motivation. 3. Newbies ask the same questions in every industry. In stock trading, franchising, property investment, and even in MLM/NWM, every industry has the same questions asked by new entrants into those industries. And the answers remain the same. Suggestion: maybe if Better Networker could create an archive of Newbie FAQ's, categorized and tagged, with a special feature to search through questions, that might be quite useful. Also, similar to Yahoo's Questions, the community can give answers and the community can vote for the best answer for each question. Typical questions like "which company is best", "which compensation plan is best", "which WP plugin to use for this and that"... etc... etc... 4. Your Mentor/Accountability-Partner/Upline is not responsible for your success. A mentor will only add a certain amount of probability to your success, but they won't add everything you need. They only help guide you, they won't take you all the way. Furthermore, mentors are not all made equal. Some are in fact, better than others. Also, some may be better suited to you and your personality style than others. If you're a realist like me, having a mentor who constantly leans on the motivational side of things, won't be helpful. It may be suitable for some of you though. SIDENOTE: Sometimes it's good to have more than just one mentor... Back to the point... in any industry and especially MLM, --->YOU<--- are your biggest asset (Not your mentor). So start weeding through trainign materials like crazy, figure out what works for you, and categorize your materials into "training" and "motivation" that suits you (and other categories if you want to add). Start expanding your mind. Kiyosaki says that your skills and knowledge are your biggest assets. More skill and knowledge leads to more success, however you define it SIDENOTE: I'm somewhat tired of defining success as more clients and more sales and more profits 5. Everything worthwhile in life takes time. SIDENOTE to MLM'ers... it is for this reason that you should find the right people to work with in your MLM business. Some people are just not entrepreneurs and should rather be treated as a customer you can retail your products to. This ties in nicely with #4 above. There is no quick way to riches, and searching for one will place you among the SPAMMERS in #1 It takes time to be trained effectively for your chosen industry. It also takes time to build your first few long term customers. Yes you may become a millionaire in months, but I shudder to think how fast you might lose it. Even so, months are not the same as overnight success, and 5 years, although short, is also not overnight success. SIDENOTE: i'm not sure that becoming a millionaire should be the goal. If that's the reason why you're starting a business, then you've got the wrong reasons for starting one. Very few people will have a smooth ride in business. The majority of us will have to hang in there and wrestle some tough obstacles to get out on the other side. I know you need to get 5 customers on repeat order quick to stay in business if you're short on cashflow in your new startup, but if you don't... will you quit? It took me more than a few years to get 3 repeat customers. Yeah that sounds bad, but for some of us, that's the commitment you have to make. For some of us, that's how much we have to learn AND change to get the first few customers. Whatever business you enter into, join it with the right long term mentality (you might be like me, taking years to build your first few customers. Join it with the right mentality. Get into it for the long term. Get into it for what you can learn AND NOT what you hope to get OUT of it... I know you don't start a business to learn or make friends, and I know that every business has a bottom line. I'm not saying you shouldn't go into business if money is your only motivation initially, but the ride is sure smoother when you go for it with the right attitude. There's other things I could share, but nothing more is coming to mind. I may post a second time to add to this list later. Ciao!

Elec-Brand Reviews - DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM

I can’t believe I fell for this elec-brand scam- – - -I don’t believe in “pull-down marketing” but this is my real story and what happened to me and i make this post to prevent you from falling into the same scam i fell for. This post is about elec-brand their website is www.elec-brand.com , please read every word on this page.

My friend and I wanted to buy a brand new IPhoe 4S and we saw a website online which belongs to a China manufacturer according to them.

I chatted with them online and everything looked legitimate to me and they said they don’t receive PayPal, Debit or Credit Card except for Moneygram or Western Union.

Being an online person myself, i was kind of skeptical about the mode of the transaction but then my friend convinced me that they are real, I did not do any research about the company, i did not even Google them to see people’s review. I went ahead and paid them $368 through Moneygram.

Three days after, they sent me an email that my order has been shipped but was seized by the Custom and that I had to pay another $180 for Tarriff, I asked them “why tarriff” and “why didn’t they add all those from begining , all they told me was that “it happens like that once in a while”.

That was when I began to wake up to reality that I had been scammed online, but I could not still hold them to it, I went ahead and
sent them another $180 to clear my phone from custom.

I had never been so stupid like that before in my life, especially when it comes to online transaction. Anyway, to cut the long story shorter, i kept chatting with them online trying to get the tracking number to track my order only for them to email me the 2nd day and said – my order was involved in an accident together with their other items, so , they had to send everything back to manufacturer.

Then, it done on me that I had been scammed. I told them i was not interested in the phone again, that they should refund me, they told me that they can’t refund me until another 20 days.

I reported the incidence to Moneygram, Bank of America, and even the police , funniest thing was that all of them told me there was nothing
they can do about it. That it was an international issue and i had to see how to report them online to websites like Scam.com , and so on.

I learnt my lessons big time, I am still on it though, at least if I don’t get my refund, that type of website don’t deserve to be online.

What are the lessons from this my experience?
#1. If a blind leads a blind, two of them will crash. I listen to my friend who understands nothing about online transactions, he had bought
so many things online before but that was not enough.

#2. I did not follow my first gut- – sometimes if it looks too good to be true , it might definitely be.

I am open to any suggestion on what to do next, and please share your experience with me if you had experienced this type of incidence.

For security sake in which I don’t care, the name of the company is elec-brand.com , DO NOT FALL FOR THEM and DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM.

Now coming to online business and mentoring, working with a mentor can save you a lot of headache and scamming online. Everything online sometimes look too attractive, how do you filter the right opportunity from the wrong ones? how do you separate scam to original and how do you “short cut” your way to success?

It’s through genuine and ideal mentorship and that’s what MLSP is all about. MLSP is a community of Internet and Network Marketers that have journeyed though the path you are just trying to go through. It consists of many top producers that had been wounded on the way but they survived it, they share their stories, and how you can avoid the same error and mistake they made.

You see, success is so cheap but Failure is very expensive. Which one do you prefer. This is an open invitation for you to join my Mastermind team in MLSP, it will save you many years of ‘try and error” So, if you are ready to “short-cut” your way to success, click here now to join MLSP.

MonaVie Moves Joe Licciardi Leg After He Leaves For Momentis?

There is an interesting story over on the BusinessForHome.org site that shows a video (proof?) of former MonaVie Black Diamond, Joe Licciardi's business being moved under someone else once he left the company.

The story itself is interesting, but in today's world of instant news via blogging and social media, The Preseident of MonaVie has already responded along with another Black Diamond and Joe Licciardi himself.

Here's a few snips:

Original BusinessForHome Article:

The entire USA downline of former Black Diamond Joe Licciardi who left the company last month, is moved down the Genealogy and inserted into – Alexander Herr- Purple Diamond's organization in Germany.

In MLM moving downlines is controversial…. Free money for the new upline….. and considered not ethical.

MonaVie President, Randy Schroeder responds:

Recently a Mona Vie distributor (Joe Licciardi), who had gained the Black Diamond rank some years ago, but whose business had been in steady decline to the point of qualification well below his stated rank, made what I believe was a huge error in joining another company, cross recruiting and disparaging Mona Vie to the point of termination for violation of policies and procedures.

We then took the appropriate action of re-assigning sponsorships and repositioning what had become a very small lesser leg to create leadership to those who would suffer from the departure of their up-line. We took the appropriate measures, all within the stated policies and procedures of Mona Vie. This did not result in rank advancement for anyone.

Followed by this cryptic and cult-like response from MonaVie Royal Black Diamond, Todd Hartog (I especially enjoy the old "bathroom walls" statement...straight out of the Amway book of keeping the minions under tight mind control):

Facts are clear here. Its easy for someone to run with false truths. Monavie is a integrity based company that follows a strict Policy and moral code. The world wide web is like the bathroom walls of society where you can write just about anything. There is Law that prohibits the use of names and Company names on website and video content. Remember your computer and Modems give off IP unique address and its better then a fingerprint.

Then Joe Licciardi responds:

Ok, after seeing the many comments posted on the various articles, I never wanted to take the time or expend the energy to reply, except for this one by Randy S.

It is interesting that just a few months ago he was telling many that he considered Patrice and I to be one of his closest friends. Now, that we have taken another direction in life, he is saying that” Some people achieve ranks that where larger than themselves”. Really? How do you determine that? And to say that our business had declined to the point that we fell below our achieved rank? Well, why don’t we not just point the finger towards one person but to many, especially those who were helped by the moving of this leg. How was it determined where to move it this leg anyway? Were there not other active Blacks and others working the business who equally qualified? But the most dis-hearting comment is the accusation of us “Cross-recruiting and Disparaging the company”. We are still waiting for this documented proof. Of which there is none. In the end, it is what it is and we move on.

Someone once told me just a few weeks back that if I made such a move, I would find out very quickly who truly were my friends. And that he was so right, and I thank those of you who have openly poured out your support.

What To Do If Your MLM Upline Abandons You Or Pitches Another Business Opportunity [del.icio.us]

Ever had that experience of your upline abandoning you as soon as you sign up into a new MLM business? Ever encountered a situation where your upline shows up one day and tells you how good this other new company is? This is so common in todays MLM network marketing game, that's someone had to do something about addressing this point seriously. That's why I have recorded this short video below.

How to Put the SPIN on Your Sales and Power Your Marketing

Most people consider sales to be “second class” work but in fact, it’s one of the key skills of success and a cornerstone of every marketing system out there.  Without sales, all marketing is a failure.

To get a clearer idea of how closely intertwined sales and marketing are, let’s first take a look at a definition of marketing.

The Marketing Formula

One of the best definitions of marketing is marketing = advertising + sales.

In other words, your job as a marketer is to attract prospective customers and then get them to trade their money for your products and services. Marketing to these customers is about listening to them and offering them the solution they’re seeking.   When you can get them to give you money for the solution you’re offering them, that’s when you have made a sale.  But there’s an art to getting to that point.

SPIN: The Psychology of Sales

The best and the most experienced salespeople know that to get a prospective customer to the point where they are willing to trade you money for your products and services, you need to ask a few situation questions first.

This is known as the model of SPIN, first put forth in a business book published by Neil Rackham in 1988, and still being used by top salespeople in the industry.

SPIN are a series of questions that flesh out:

Situation

Problem

Implication

Need payoff

These questions are all part of a consultative process that doesn’t threaten the customer and that also gets them involved in the whole process and engages them.  Once they find themselves involved and engaged, they start to establish trust with you and are now more likely to give you money for your products and services.

Live Customer Interaction

The whole key to making this process effective, of course, is having live, real-time interaction with the customer.  You need to get out there and talk to your customers.  Without this interaction, you’ll almost certainly never figure out how to offer them what they want or how to market and sell so that they buy.

The good marketer makes it his or her business to talk to, at least, 3 prospects per day live and the serious marketer makes it his or her business to interact with, at least, 10 prospects per day live.

First sales, then marketing

From one prospective, marketing can be thought of as “mass sales” and in order to understand how to market your product, it’s valuable to first sell your product.

After that you want to base your marketing on the universal “customer avatar” elements you discover.

Your “customer avatar”.

This was a concept developed by Eben Pagan, one of the most successful online internet marketers ever with his revenue annually exceeding twenty million dollars.

The “customer avatar” is based on the idea that people don’t like to spoken to as a group.  Instead, it is far better to group customers as one person with a specific set of qualities.

In order to find out what these qualities are, you need to start to communicate and interview them by e-mail, forums, phone, etc.  As you do, make copious notes on all observations and details you notice.

This will produce for you your “customer avatar”, an accurate picture and detailed description of exactly who your ideal customer is.  Once you know this valuable information and have it clearly defined on paper and as a visual, you will know exactly who to target.

But even better, you will know exactly how to speak to this customer to get them to respond to your offers and what questions you need to ask them to get them to the point of a sale.

This is how you would apply SPIN to your sales and power your marketing.

Number 1 problem is finding leads?

If you resolve that problem, do you know what to do with them once you've found them? Do you have a method or methods in place to introduce them to your opportunity? Or are you hoping you will build the "know, like and trust" so you can talk to them about your MLM? Is finding leads the real problem? Or is it "how and when do I introduce my MLM" the real problem you're facing? I know I struggled with that for years (yes, years!) and turned to affiliate tools and gimmicks to create an income. I knew something was wrong with that picture and it turns out I was right. Leads wasn't my problem and chances are it's not yours either. Joyce

5 Tips on How to Do Power Networking

If you’re looking to promote and build your business, you need to network as powerfully as you can.  There is no such thing as a “business in a bubble”, especially these days with the economy being as shaky as it is.  Unfortunately, though, too many people hold the misconception that focusing entirely on their own projects will help them get ahead.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

Why bother networking?

Networking is all about the art of meeting people and using those relationships for the mutual benefit of both.  The fact of the matter is that wealthy people invest in relationships and good businesspeople see their relationships as an asset and seek to build them.  Networking also provides the “social proof” necessary that your business is thriving and prospering.  As more and more people find out about you and your business, they see you as “successful” and as an “asset” to know.

At the end of the day, it’s way more fun to build a business through networking than to sit at home by yourself, in front of a computer, trying to figure it all out on your own.

How to Network in a Powerful Way

In order to use networking to build your business, you need to network in a powerful way.  Too many people think that networking is all about just meeting the “right” people and seeing how they can help you.  This is absolutely the wrong mindset to have towards networking.

Tip #1 – Have a “Value” Mindset

When you network, do not focus on what you can “get” from the people you meet, focus on what “value” you can offer to them.  When you approach people from a standpoint of looking to “help” them as opposed to looking to “take” or “get” from them, you’ll find it easier to build a relationship of trust with them and this is the “golden goose” in business.  You want people to trust you and to start coming to you because they see you as a person who can help them and offers value to them.  Trust and the whole art of establishing trust in business is the most powerful asset you can have in business.  If you approach your networking with “value” mindset and focus on how you can help and provide value to others, you will not only network with much greater ease, you will establish trust much quicker as well.

Tip #2 – Use the Law of 5

The “law of 5” refers to the goal of making it your aim to meet, at least, 5 new people each and every time you network.  If you are always meeting 5 new people and others around you are always meeting 5 new people, then every time you meet a one new person, you have connected to 5 new people through that one person.  By networking with the intention of meeting 5 new people each and every time you network, you essentially increase your network by 25 exponentially.

Tip #3 – Be the “Connector”

“The Connector” is someone who knows people and then links them.  Help others out with their networking too.  Whenever you meet someone new, think of another person you know that might be valuable for them to know as well and hook them up.  This is not only a great way to offer value to others but it helps you to become seen as the “go to” person when it comes to meeting people that others might want to meet.

Tip #4 – Get an Online Presence

Don’t neglect social media as a way to continue to building the relationship beyond the initial contact.  Social Media also helps people see that you are serious about continuing and building that relationship with them.   If you’re reaching out to them through Facebook or Linkedin, they feel gratified that you remember them and are still interested in knowing more about them beyond the moment of initial contact.  Your interest in them seems less superficial.

Tip #5 – Follow up

Always follow up your initial contact with some kind of short email thanking them for meeting you.  This seems like something common sense but you would be surprised at how many people don’t follow up after networking.  By not following up, you lose an opportunity to reinforce the friendship that was established during the initial moment of contact.  So no matter how pressed for time you might be, always follow up after the initial meeting.

By following these 5 tips you will be able to make your networking more powerful and quickly build the contacts and relationships you need to grow your business.
